About Amy Rose
Amy grew up in Buffalo, where she loved to sing, do math, and play badly on sports teams. After somehow getting accepted to SUNY Fredonia’s excellent BFA Musical Theatre program, she held on for as long as she could without working very hard or learning anything new. When she hit NYC in her twenties she followed the same unsuccessful format, and gave up on the idea of acting for a couple of decades. During that time she lived a wonderful, full life as a mom, wife, volunteer, freelance writer, podcaster, and blogger, blazing a trail as an online influencer before that was a thing.
Somewhere along the way she found a work ethic, ambition, and a strong urge to seriously pursue an acting career, so as the COVID lockdowns eased up she jumped into acting classes with the energy of a peri-menopausal theater kid, and then started auditioning. Ignoring all of the talk about how acting was now impossible to break into and how self-tapes were ruining the industry, she steadily worked her way up from student films, non-paying roles, and questionable social media ads, and is now finding success in commercials, feature films, and TV. She’s a fast learner, especially if food is involved. She can cry on cue. Also not on cue, and also not on set (she cries a lot). Directors have called her easy to work with, dependable, and lactose-intolerant. Most importantly, she is having a ton of fun!
Amy has way too many hobbies, and if you ask her even the most casual question she will tell you all about them. She’s an expert baker, is learning how to play guitar and re-learning how to play piano, loves working in her upstate woodshop, and knits every chance she gets (and those are just the hobbies she didn’t abandon after buying all of the supplies!). She once came in second in a Sound of Music costume contest at the Ziegfeld Theatre (RIP), knows all the words to REM’s “It’s the End of the World As We Know It,” cannot tell a joke to save her life, was raised vegetarian (but can apparently cook excellent meatballs and wings, at least according to her carnivore husband), and can solve a Rubik’s Cube in about a minute—it’s not hard, she could totally teach you! She is also in constant amazement at how lucky she is to be surrounded by incredibly supportive family and friends, who never once laughed at her (at least not to her face!) when she decided in middle age to become an actress.
Amy is a dual citizen with both US and Irish passports, and can legally travel and work in the US, EU, UK, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein. She has a valid NYS driver’s license, is 5’4″, is based in Brooklyn, and now has the overwhelming urge to show you her hands, front and back.
